What do dealers think about the top sellers in replacement windows

Currently I would guess, and dealers agree, the top sellers in replacement windows are the vinyl frames. Hugely popular, they are durable, cheap and simple. For just slightly over a hundred dollars, it is possible to find vinyl windows now. Just add the cost of a clear glass which is fairly cheap and there you have it, a brand new set of windows in your home. Vinyl is also common because of its lasting properties. Primarily plastic, it does not decompose easily and cleaning it is a breeze. A few wipes of the wet cloth and it is white again.

Following behind vinyl replacement windows would have to be either wood or aluminum. While each has its own style, definitely a cut above vinyl, they are not as lasting and flexible as vinyl in some sense. Take wood for example. Wood is heavy especially when the wood is so dense and compact. More importantly, when it is exposed to water over a sustained period of time, it may lose its fine condition and become ‘spoilt’. In cold weather countries where the air is cold, condensation on such a material is likely to occur often.

Aluminum on the other hand is much lighter than wood. A very durable but light metal, it would seem it makes the perfect choice for replacement windows. However, this is not the case. It does not have the insulating properties of either vinyl of wood. A metal conducts heat more readily than non-metals and this is exactly what happens to aluminum. When your inside is warm, it lowers the temperature of the room. When you want it to be cool, it causes the inside air to warm up. Bear in mind though that all these are not significant to the temperature at all. It’s just a property of the materials.

Following the top sellers in replacement windows would be the fiberglass. A relatively new introduction to the market, it has properties of the other three materials. It can be painted on, not as heavy as wood and does not conduct heat readily. For people who are undecided, this is a very good choice as it compromises and has no extremes. The only drawback? It is more expensive than the others.
